RocklandWorldRadio.com dedicates 24 hours of programming each year to HUNGERTHON in support of fighting and eliminating hunger and poverty. With musical guests and local community leaders highlighting the importance of this mission of feeding those in need.
WHY was founded in 1975 by the late singer-songwriter Harry Chapin and Bill Ayres. For 30 years, WHY has created and supported innovative solutions to hunger and poverty that have helped millions of hungry people.
Hungerthon joins together with WHY, radio stations, corporations, and individual donors to fight the hunger and poverty problem that affects 37 million Americans and 842 million people throughout the world. Hungerthon is a public education effort and fundraiser. This Autumn radio tradition started in 1975 as a partnership between WHY and Infinity Broadcasting. Today Hungerthon’s broadcast “family” includes Infinity Broadcasting’s New York Tri-state area radio stations, plus 95.5 FM WPLJ, 104.3 FM WAXQ, Sirius Satellite Radio, Air America and the internet radio station RocklandWorldRadio.com.
